Johnson surely had to fight a hard way against some of the best golfers in the world before he sealed his victory and opening his new year with a bang.
According from the shared information online, United States professional golfer Dustin Johnson assured last Sunday
that he would be the king of the Sentry Tournament of Champions and so he did. The 33-year-old American golf player conquered the tournament at the Kapalua Resort in Hawaii.
He won with the final score of 8-under 65 and 8-shot bring home the title.
The 8-shot advantage he got became one of the biggest scoring victories ever for a golfer. He nearly equaled the record in the 1999 tournament achieved by David Duval. In 2016, Jordan Spieth likewise won a golf tournament with 8-shot victory as well.
“I knew I was playing well, and it’s a golf course I’m really comfortable on,” said Johnson as quoted by the AP news. “I was really driving it well this week. I knew as long as I could keep doing that, I was going to do well,” he added.
The closest rival of Johnson last Sunday is Jon Rahm who finished the tournament as the 2nd placer. With his better performance, the 23-year-old Spaniard golfer improved his world ranking to the 3rd spot.
