Jeff Horn vs. Gary Corcoran

After a successful bout against the popular Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao few last July this year to win the WBO welterweight championship belt, Jeff Horn displayed another impressive performance on Wednesday to retain his title against Gary Corcoran of United Kingdom.
The former teacher from Australia won via Technical Knockout (TKO) after the referee stopped the bout in the 11th round. The stoppage occurred after the bleeding of the left eye of Corcoran due to an obtained deep cut.
The venue of the fight on Wednesday happened at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Brisbane, Australia.
Horn controlled most of the rounds in the bout and in the 11th round; Frank Greaves made a decision to end the fight by throwing a towel inside the boxing ring. Greaves is the trainer of the 27-year-old native of Wembley in United Kingdom.
During the early rounds, Corcoran and the 29-year-old native of Brisbane in Queensland had an equal fight. However, Horn started to land more punches and this somehow slowed down the British fighter.
“He definitely pushed me,” said Horn as quoted by the Associated Press. “I felt my timing was a bit off, but I got him in the end,” he added.
With his victory, the Australian boxer now improved his professional record to 19-0-1 (with 11 KOs) and his latest achievement might give way to his opportunity to get a shot against American champion Terence Crawford.
As for the England-based Corcoran, he is now 17-2 in his professional career. Despite his lost, he still appreciate the effort of Horn and he promised to come back to fight better in his future bouts.
