From the reported news about the boxing match of Artur Beterbiev and Enrico Koelling, the undefeated Russian boxer knocked out his opponent and conquered the title for the vacant IBF Light Heavyweight Championship last Saturday evening to improved his record to 12-0 (all via KOs).
They held the bout at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California.
The 32-year-old hard punching boxer from Russia managed to drop his 27-year-old rival from Germany. Both fighters clashed for the 175-pound championship and for the first time on his boxing career, Artur fought at least 7 rounds before conquering his victory.
He usually closes the fight early and ends with a quick knockout.
Beterbiev outperformed Koelling inside the ring and did not give him a chance to survive the 7th round to win the bout after a solid right hook, which left his opponent lying on the canvas. He managed to conquer his first world boxing championship belt last Saturday in front of the 18,000 spectators inside the arena.
The boxer from Germany made an effort to stand up and fight during the early going of the 7th round after a knockout. Unfortunately, he failed to sustain his energy and did not match the strong performance of the Russian foe.
With the win, Beterbiev is now 12-0 and Koelling dropped to 23-2, with only 6 wins via Knockout (KO).
The vacant IBF Light Heavyweight Title is previously from Andre “SOG” Ward.
