Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics
The game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics somehow became a nightmare when newly acquired Celtics’ Gordon Hayward incidentally was injured when he fell off his left foot on the floor wrongly.
Despite of this untoward incident in the first quarter, the game continued and the Cavaliers defeated the Celtics with the final score of 102-99.
The Cleveland Cavaliers has a home court advantage heading to the opening game on Tuesday for the 2017-2018 NBA season openers. They were able to control the game inside the Quicken Loans Arena to get their first win of the season.
Gordon Hayward obtained a severe left ankle injury with still over six minutes left in the first quarter of the game. He failed to complete an alley-op attempt from the pass of Kyrie Irving and landed his left foot badly off the floor.
All the people inside the Arena were shocked after seeing the condition of the 27-year-old Hayward lying on the floor.
The game ended properly despite the gruesome injury of Gordon.
For the Cleveland, LeBron James led the team with 29 points, 16 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 block shots. While newly acquired Cavs players Derrick Rose scored 14 points, Jae Crowder added 11 points and Dwayne Wade scored 8 points for the game.
Jaylen Brown however led the Celtics in scoring with 25 points and newly acquired player Kyrie Irving added 22 points in his game debut against his former team.
Hayward just recently signed a multi-million dollar 4-year contract with the Celtics last summer during the NBA free agencies. According to the reports, his contract worth about $128 million and his latest injury can really hurt the team this season.
Many NBA players already expressed their supports and prayers through social media accounts online. They flew Gordon back to Boston for medical treatment.
