Egypt vs. Congo
In a very dramatic matchup between Egypt and Congo at the ongoing football tournament in Alexandria, the Egyptian soccer team managed to defeat the Congolese soccer team and made it to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after almost 17 years of waiting.
Egypt beats Congo with the final score of 2-1 after a stoppage time penalty.
The Egyptian team relied to one of the best players Mohamed Salah who completed the penalty and this gave Egypt the sweetest opportunity to reach the 2018 World Cup series in Russia. Likewise, they now have at least 4-point lead in the Group E ahead of Uganda.
Salah made a history for the Egypt when he managed to surpass Barel Mouko on the 63rd minute of the matchup. This made the almost 85,000 spectators inside the Borg El Arab Stadium roar to their excitement.
Baral Mouko is the goalkeeper of the Congo soccer team.
The Congolese actually has the opportunity to steal the victory with the help of Boukah Moulou. However, Salah proved his worth for the Egyptian and played as a team to seal their win on Saturday.
Many had said that Egypt is one of the most dominant soccer teams before, especially in the African region. Unfortunately, they had been struggling to reach the World Cup since 1990.
Their victory against the Congolese now gave them a new hope to regain the lost glory in the world of soccer.
As for head coach Hector Cuper, he had been dealing with the situation intensely because he is taking medicine for his hypertension to help him overcome their critics.
“I am taking hypertension medicine due to the stress I suffer from continuing criticism,” said Cuper to the reporters as quoted by Fox Sports online.
“Life is full of stress, but the challenge of reaching the World Cup is the toughest stress I have faced,” the head coach of the Egypt added.
