TNT KaTropa vs. Barangay Ginebra Kings
|Barangay Ginebra Kings||96|
In the ongoing semifinal matchups at the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the TNT KaTropa defeated the crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra Kings with the final score of 103-96.
The TNT and Ginebra are in their best-of-five semifinal series and now tied at 1-1.
If the TNT import did not play effectively in game 1 wherein they lost against the Ginebra, Glen Rice Jr. this time made a huge impact in helping the TNT seal the victory. This is despite obtaining 4th personal fouls in the early quarters.
The former NBA player from the Washington Wizards managed to score 21 points and played a huge role in the final quarter by scoring 12 points before sitting back on the bench for this 5th personal foul. The TNT however did not have trouble keeping their lead because the local players likewise stepped up for the win.
Jayson Castro led the locals in scoring with 20 points and provided 10 assists to balance the scoring of the team. Castro did not allow their opponent to take the lead, despite playing without Rice due to foul trouble already.
He silenced the crowd inside the jump-packed Batangas City Sports Centers.
As for the Ginebra Kings, their locals did not play their usual game because of the good defense of the TNT KaTropa players. Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter did not touch the ball more on game 2, which failed them to score better.
Another missing factor is their important Justin Brownlee.
The schedule of their game 3 matchup will be on Friday and the venue is at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
The Gin Kings will try to bounce back to get the 2-1 lead if they beat the TNT. In the other semifinal matchup, the Meralco Bolts are already on a 2-0 advantage against the Star Hotshots and a win away to clinching into the PBA Finals this season.
