Lionel Messi once again displayed a stunning performance on Tuesday to lead the Barcelona against the Juventus and took home the victory with the final score of 3-0 at the opening matchup of the renowned Champions League.
The 30-year-old football superstar from Argentina included Gianluigi Buffon to its long listing of goalkeepers whom he scored in his entire professional career. However, Buffon made it difficult for Messi to score and already denied him thrice in the previous matchups before Tuesday’s goal.
The popular soccer player from Argentina is continuously playing great this season and had been leading the Spanish football club FC Barcelona impressively.
With his two latest goals, Messi obtained his 96th career goal already and most importantly pushing his team to a better position in the Group D.
“Tonight (Messi) did score (against Buffon) because we left him too much space,” said Massimiliano Allegri as quoted by the Associated Press. “(Messi) plays perfectly well in tight spaces, but today he had more space, and I would even say that we made it easier for him, leaving him so open,” he continued.
Allegri is the current head coach of the Juventus F.C.
As for the head coach of FC Barcelona Ernesto Valverde, he said that the Argentinian superstar anything can happen when he has the ball.
