American woman tennis player Venus Williams displayed a stunning performance against her rival Czech Republican Petra Kvitova on Tuesday and helped her reach the semifinals at the US Open after waiting for about 8 years. According to the reports, her last semifinal appearance is back in 2010.
Venus managed to keep her composure during the matchup and seal her victory with the final scores of 6-3, 3-6 and 7-6 (2) inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City. Petra is a 2-time champion of the Wimbledon and it was a sweet victory for Williams because she had been struggling to reach the semifinals.
During an interview with the media as quoted by the news, Venus said that she considered her match against Petra as a special one, but without any easy moment, no easy serve or break serve. She added that such match meant a lot to her because of playing with a home court advantage and for playing at the major again.
It was not actually easy for the 37-year-old American woman netter because she trailed in the 3rd set and lost the 2nd set to her Czech Republican rival. Fortunately, she managed to come back stronger and set the tempo to seal her victory on Tuesday.
