Milos Raonic vs. Nicolas Mahut
|Milos Raonic||7 (7/2)||7 (10/8)|
With his remarkable performance on Wednesday, Milos Raonic beat Nicolas Mahut with the final scores of 7-6 (7/2), 7-6 (10/8) at the current ATP and WTA Citi Open in Washington.
Raonic now advanced to the 3rd round of the ongoing tennis tournament.
The 26-year-old Canadian tennis player is currently 10th in the world raking and again making his mark at the same tennis courts like what he did at least three years ago. Raonic will face the winner between Cypriot Marcus Baghdatis or Ryan Harrison for the next round.
Perhaps one of the most interesting facts about his performance on Wednesday is that the young netter from Canada made 26 aces and this made it difficult for his 35-year-old French opponent to steal the victory.
It has been awhile since Raonic won an ATP championship and he looks determined this time as he moves to the next round of the ongoing tournament. According to the shared information through the AFP news, he is already experienced an 18-month drought for an ATP title. The native of Montenegro in Canada already suffered 5 losses in all final appearances.
During an interview, he said that this will be the exact opportunity he has to get him going on the right direction.
“This is a chance to really get things going the right way,” said Raonic as quoted by the news. “It’s the leadoff to having a chance to turn things around. This year, I haven’t had that good a season,” he added.
