In the recent UFC 214 bouts at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Cris “Cyborg” Justino successfully defeated her opponent Tonya Evinger on Saturday. With her victory, he is now the new UFC Featherweight Champion of the world and proved her worth in the MMA.
Justino defeated Evinger in the 3rd round with almost 1:56 remaining via TKO.
From the latest sports news online, Cris “Cyborg” Justino made an impressive performance against Tonya Evinger to become the new featherweight champion at the UFC 214 held in Anaheim, California. She manages to stop her opponent in the 3rd round and sealed her victory to bring home the championship belt on Saturday.
Since 2005, she had been competing in the MMA and her luck to become the new champion only came on Saturday inside the crowded Honda Center. The 32-year-old Brazilian and American waited for more than a decade to win a title.
During an interview after the fight as detailed by ESPN.com, she said that she is happy for becoming a world champion and felt it coming perfectly because she is on the peak of her MMA career. She played impressively and punished Evinger inside the octagon.
With her win, she now improved her professional record to 17-1 and most importantly she proved her dominance after training harder in Orange County. As for the 36-year-old Evinger, she now has a record of 19-6 who also showed toughness against “Cyborg” in their 135-pound title match.
Justino will have to enjoy her championship title before thinking about her possible upcoming opponent. Regardless of whom she fights, it appears that she is ready to take the challenge.
