TNT KaTropa vs. Brgy. Ginebra Gin Kings

In the opening games of the PBA semifinals series, the TNT KaTropa managed to win their opening game against the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings with the final score of 100-94 on Sunday.
They now have a 1-0 lead at the ongoing 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The TNT KaTropa relied with their huge import Joshua Smith who scored 35 big points for the game. The Gin Kings failed to defend Smith inside the shaded area and he easily grabbed rebounds and made points using his height advantage.
Smith had 13 rebounds and providing 4 assists as well.
For TNT head coach Nash Racela, he said that their import can score as long as they give him the right playing time. He also explained that the good defense of Ginebra somehow controlled the rebounding output of Smith, but he still scored good numbers, as detailed by the news report.
The Gin Kings had a chance to tie or win the game, but Jayson Castro hit a daggering 3-point shot that gave the TNT a comfortable 5-point lead again in the final minute of the game.
For the Ginebra, their import Justin Brownlee led the team by scoring 24 points, grabbed 14 boards and with 6 assists for the game.
The scheduled game 2 is on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
