In a very intense game against the Alaska Aces, the Star Hotshots managed to escape and won the game with the final score of 102-98 on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

With the win, the Hotshots are now in solo 1st place with 9-2 record and with a huge chance to get a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup. As for the Aces, they lose 7 consecutive games already and moved them down the team standing with 4-7 record.

Hotshots’ import Ricardo Ratliffe led the team in scoring with 35 big points, grabbed 28 rebounds and with 5 block shots for the game. Another key player who played impressively is point guard Paul Lee who scored 18 points and made a crucial 3-point shot in the Overtime (OT) period to help the Star seal their victory.

The Aces managed to comeback in the OT, but the huge 3-point shot of Justin Melton put the Stars on top again via 100-98.

They had all the chances to steal the win, yet the Hotshots rallied and completed 21-3 run. It was a tough loss for the Alaska team and this somehow jeopardized their opportunity to move into the next round.

Calvin Abueva led the Aces with 22 points, import Jefferson added 21 points, Chris Banchero scored 19 points and Racal scored with 13 points for the game.
