Geje Eustaquio vs. Anatpong Bundard
The recent ONE Championship bout on Friday in Singapore proved that Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio can do better against his opponents after defeating Anatpong “Mak Mak” Bundrad of Thailand. He won the fight, but did not get his expected judges scores after announcing the winner.
The native of Baguio City won via split decision at the ONE: Dynasty of Heroes held in Singapore.
“I was surprised with the three judges’ decision. I was expecting a unanimous decision win against my opponent,” said Eustaquio as quoted by inquirer.net.
Despite the slow start of the 28-year-old Filipino fighter, he was able to recover and controlled the matchup until the final round. He displayed his impressive power punching in countering his opponent and good leg kicks that ruined the disposition of the Thailand-born fighter.
Although he won the fight after announcing the split decision, he still felt surprised on how the judges concluded their scorecards for the bout. Geje is very confident of himself and knew that he will beat Thai his opponent. Nonetheless, he is happy with the outcome of his fight and showed respect to the decision of the judges.
With his win, he now has a professional record of 9-5 and may have an opportunity to improve his career in the flyweight division after his victory.
“It’s a breath of fresh air. I am back on the winning side. Of course, this will not be the end. There will be new assignments in the future. Anyone who wants to face me next, I am ready to dance with you,” Eustaquio likewise stated.
