Rain or Shine vs. Barangay. Ginebra
|Rain or Shine||118|
The Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings had the chance to clinch to the semifinals playoff automatically last night, but the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters denied them the opportunity. They defeated them with the final score of 118-112 on Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
The Gins kings dropped to 5-2, while the Elasto Painters are now 5-4 and keeping their chance alive for the next round.
Rain or Shine effectively defended Ginebra’s import Justin Brownlee inside the basketball court and he failed to score in the final minutes. This is the reason why the Gin Kings lost the opportunity to win the game, despite leading by 10 points in the 4th quarter 93-83. It was a total team effort for the Elasto Painters to comeback and defeated the Gin Kings.
Newly acquired import Duke Crews led the team in scoring with 28 points and solid 20 rebounds for the game. He got better support from teammates like Jericho Cruz with 19 points, Jay Washington who scored 16 points and James Yap with 15 points.
As for the Ginebra Gin Kings, Brownlee led the team with 38 points, Joe Devance added 19 points, Japeth Aguilar with 15 points and Scottie Thompson scored 10 points for the game. They will need to beat the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday if they want to clinch to the next round.
For the Rain or Shine, they will face the GlobalPort Batang Pier on May 26.
