In a very surprising comeback and performance, Andy Murray managed to save a total of 7-match points before he was able to defeat his rival Philipp Kohlschreiber at the Dubai Tennis Championships on Thursdays. With his victory, Murray will now move in the semifinal round and inching closer to the finals.
He defeated his opponent with the score of 6-7(4), 7-6(18) and 6-1.
The matchup between the tennis superstars from UK and Germany become more intense when they needed at least 31 minutes and 6 seconds before completing the tiebreaker in the 2nd set of their match. On this set, German netter Kohlschreiber has a 7-match point advantage and this is when the great performance of Murray showed up by overcome his opponent to steal the 8th set point.
During his interview, the tennis star from UK admitted that that is the longest tiebreaker he played in his entire career as a professional tennis player in the span of 12 years. He even mentioned that he has no plan to play that kind of game in his future games.
As reported online, the ATP stated that the tiebreaker (20-18) of Andy and Philipp is one of the longest since 1991.
As for the German professional tennis player, he may be disappointed to loss but not feeling sad at all. He even considered his matchup against Murray as one of the best in his entire career.
