Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bobby Gunn Final Score
|Roy Jones Jr.||Winner – TKO|
After taking a long break in the boxing ring, Roy Jones Jr. again proved himself that he can still box and defeat his opponent convincingly. Jones beat Bobby Gunn via TKO in the 8th round of their bout. The 48-year-old former 4-division boxing champion won the WBF Cruiserweight championship at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware on Friday.
During the 6th round, Jones displayed his usual vintage skills in boxing and this somehow forced Gunn to do his own stuff. Unfortunately, he failed to level the intensity of his opponent and did not land good punches at all. The hard punches of Jones in the 7th round made Gunn feel his power and this gave way to the victory of the former world boxing champion.
The referee stop the fight in the 8th round and the corner of Gunn agreed. With the win, Jones now has a record of 65-9 with 47 KOs, while Bobby Gunn is 21-7-1 with 18 KOs in his career. He had nee inactive in boxing since 2013 and this is probably one reason why he looks out of shape against his tough opponent inside the ring.
As for Jones, this is his 3rd win despite turning 48 last January 16. Last year, he defeated Rodney Moore and Vyron Phillips before his recent fight in Delaware.
