San Miguel Beermen vs. TNT KaTropa Final Score
|San Miguel Beermen||96|
Without star point Jayson Castro, the San Miguel Beermen managed to control the game 7 and defeated the TNT KaTropa 96-83 on Monday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. With the win, the SMB advances to the PBA finals and will have the chance to defend their All Filipino title.
The KaTropa are playing well in the first half, but losing Castro in the final crucial game made them suffer. They needed to pull out Castro due to hamstring and this gave the Beermen a chance to outscore their opponent.
Point guard Chris Ross played an impressive game with 18 points, while center Jun Mar Fajardo scored 22 points with 19 rebounds and forward Arwind Santos added 22 points with 13 rebounds. Of course, most of the SMB players contributed well to seal their victory and gave them an opportunity to return to the finals.
SMB head coach Leo Austria is happy with their game 7 performance and congratulated the TNT team for a job well done, especially to Nash Racela who is the new head coach.
As for the KaTropa, Kelly Williams (11 points), Larry Fonacier (14 points) and Roger Pogoy (13 points) made an effort to carry the team, but lack the necessary supports from the other players. They even controlled the series with a 3-2 advantages, yet the Beermen defeated them twice in game 6 and game 7 to move into the PBA finals.
