Spurs Display Absolute Dominance In Their Stellar Win Over Warriors 129-100
The San Antonio Spurs take down the Golden State Warriors 129-100 at the Oracle Arena. The Spurs led by Kawhi Leonard displayed total dominance over the Warriors led by Kevin Durant, and took the win in their first matchup of the 2016-17 NBA season. The runner-up of the last NBA championship, the Warriors, trailed the Spurs and could not seem to catch up.
Kawhi Leonard registered a career-high 35 points with a 15-15 shooting from the free throw line. Subsequently, LaMarcus Aldridge added 26 points to seal their first win of the season. It seems that the Spurs did not feel the absense of superstar and future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan in their lineup, as he has retired earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Warriors were led by Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry with combined 53 points. It was also the first official match of KD in a Warriors uniform. One of the important factors to take note in this night’s matchup was the rebound stats. Spurs had a whopping 29 offensive rebounds. It’s like what they say, the one who controls the rebound controls the game. And in this case, it’s totally true.
The Warriors will go on their second round to meet Anthony Davis and the rest of the New Orleans Pelicans, while the Spurs, fresh from their dominating win, will face DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.
