Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors Final Score
|Golden State Warriors||89|
The Cleveland Cavaliers proved their critics wrong by defeating the Golden State Warriors 93-89 and bringing home the 2016 NBA championship trophy. They also became the first team in the league that came back to win the championship from a 1-3 deficit in the NBA Finals.
It was a sweet and memorable win for the Cavaliers because they ended their 52-year drought in the NBA.
Despite playing inside the Oracle Arena and with a home court advantage, the Golden State Warriors failed to win the championship and allowed the Cleveland sealed the victory. It was actually a tight game, but the Cavaliers did not give up until the final buzzer of the 4th quarter in their winner-take-all game 7 on Sunday night.
Once again, the tandem of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving made it possible for the team to win the championship. James scored 27 points and Irving scored 26 points for the game. The intriguing factor about the Cavaliers is that their head coach Tyronn Lue only used 8 players, but still managed to bring home the championship trophy.
For the Warriors, Draymond Green led the team in scoring with 32, Stephen Curry with 17 and Klay Thompson with 14 points. Unfortunately, they failed to win their back-to-back championship.
